We All Just Wanna Be Big Frock Stars – Sally Hansen Salon Effects

We All Just Wanna Be Big Frock Stars

In my opinion the person who would be the best candidate for using Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail polish strips would be the girl who is either too lazy or too messy to actually paint her nails with regular nail polish or the girl who is tired of paying $30+ at the nail salon every other week to have her nails professionally done. I can easily say I have been BOTH of these girls before and just think that the Sally Hansen Real Nail Polish Strips are simply a great salon alternative.
I wish I would have had some of these when I went on my honeymoon and when we went to Disney World for 2 weeks! In the words of my husband “Your nail polish looks like it should be on a dead hooker”. It was a harsh, but true statement. At the end of both trips my nails polish was peeling, chipping, and just gross looking! These are easy to apply and have true staying power. I have used the Sally Hansen Real Nail Polish Strips before and loved them (the hounds tooth design)! They actually lasted longer than the 10 days that the box promised! They were barely starting to peel at the 14 day mark.

Hounds Tooth Design

In the Spring Beauty VoxBox I received from Influenster there was the Sally Hansen “Frock Star” design nail strips.

Influenster Spring Beauty VoxBox – Sally Hansen Salon Effects

At first glance I loved them! They are multi-colored, chunky glitters which has been all the rage the past two fashion seasons. Despite the pretty sparkles I’m oh-so drawn to, that little feeling of dread comes over me when I think about having to remove them! YIKERS! Removing glitter nail polish is a pain in the BUTT! So, one thing I really like about the “Frock Star” design is that you can hardly feel the glitter and I was able to peel them right off without a problem. It says on the box to remove them with nail polish remover but peeling them off is how I removed my last two sets of nail strips and it works just fine.

“Frock Star” Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips

My conclusion: A little too expensive for everyday use, but a MUST-HAVE for people going on a vacation, honeymoon, or long trip and don’t want to worry about their nails while they’re away. Read below for more product information and links to other peoples reviews and the Sally Hansen website.

In love with Bath & Body Works Fine Fragrance Mist – Paris Amour

Paris Amour Fragrance Mist

I can’t say this enough… Paris Amour is my new FAVORITE Bath and Body Works Fragrance Mist for this spring! I’m just in love with it (no pun intended, ok… maybe a little)! I had bought one of the $5 travel-size bottles after it first came out to see if I would like it. I used it until it was almost empty! I then had to start rationing it, using it only for special occasions!

*This is where I was going to post a picture of my EMPTY $5 travel-size bottle of Paris Amour, but it got threw into the recycling before I could take a picture of it.

Luckily when I received my Influenster Spring Beauty VoxBox last week there in the box was a full size Paris Amour Fragrance Mist!!!

My Spring Beauty VoxBox from Influenster

Ahhhhhh! I was so excited (I still am)! I was seriously planning on purchasing this in full size the next time I went to Bath & Body Works.
Paris Amour is a perfect blend of 1/3 fruity, 1/3 floral, and 1/3 bakery! I feel like Paris Amour is not SO fruity that you couldn’t wear it straight into fall and winter as well. It is really amazing! I have a feeling it will be one of my ALL TIME favorite scents. I listed the fragrance notes below and more information on it! Enjoy!

Top Notes
Mandarin, Strawberry, Cassis, Pink Champagne, Apple Blossom, Freesia
Middle Notes
Peach, Jasmine Petals, French Tulip, Water Lily, Frangipani
Base Notes
Vanilla, Coconut Milk, Amber Wood, Sandalwood, Creamy Musk

I found the fragrance notes on, they are a great resource for finding this type of fragrance information.

Montagne Jeunesse… good for your skin, your wallet and the earth!

If you can’t tell by reading my blogs, three of my favorite things are: Beauty, Saving Money, and Being Green. I have seen these face masks at places like Walmart before, I would just look at them and keep walking. A few weeks ago my skin was being even more unruly than usual. My face just felt like it needed some kind of special treatment. Again, I was at Walmart, saw the Montagne Jeunesse face masques and decided to actually stop and check them out. The first thing I always do is look at the price, it was less than $2.00! What ?!?! “This can’t be any good…” I said to myself “It’s too cheap!” Then I thought about saving money again, and was like, “I’m just gonna try one, it’s only $1.97.” I picked up the one that is specifically for oily skin, the Dead Sea Mud masque. As me and my husband walked aimlessly around the store, I read the back of the packet free of parabens, vegetarian approved and never tested on animals”, “uhh, that’s nice!”

I put in on before my shower, then rinsed it off before I got out. It smelled pretty much how it sounds, like a clean, natural, earthy smell.  I definitely felt pampered and refreshed.  I considered it to work fairly well… for the price! I really want to try some of the other scents! Definitely worth a shot, what do ya have to lose? $1.97! That’s it! Let me know if you have tried the Montagne Jeunesse face masques and what you thought about them in the comments below. If you want to see more reviews on these masks, check out Influenster’s Montagne Jeunesse product review page.

Wicked Witch of Valentine’s Day

New Years Resolution… Vloggin’

I’ve decided my New Years Resolution for 2012 is to do vlogs!
Just for fun and to record memories with my husband. Since my wedding in 2009 we (me and my husband Jarrod) haven’t hardly took any photos or home videos of ourselves. When we were dating we took pictures of our outfits (which ALWAYS MATCH) on a daily basis and it’s so fun to look back at those. But the past 2 years we hardly have ANY pictures to help remember 2010 and 2011. So in an effort to make more memories I’m gonna vlog (and hopefully talk my husband into participating)!
I’m getting started with this a little early by doing a Vlogmas Countdown which you can hopefully check out on my Youtube page very soon!

Hippie Tie Dye Nails

Do you ever feel like a hippie that needs a challenging manicure?…Err, probably not! But if by chance you do feel like a hippie, or want a challenge, or just want a cute manicure; do I have a unique nail design for YOU!

I found this nail tutorial on YouTube. After I watched it, my first thought was “That won’t work!”. Well a month or so later I watched it AGAIN and was like “We’ll see about that!!!” so I got my friend and gathered supplies!

I’m not going into detail on the “how to” part of it (you can check out Missjenfabulous‘s video for that) 🙂

Here’s the results I achieved by giving this a try:

These are the products I used:

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear –  (21) White On

AVON Nailwear Pro – (N701) Sunshine

Revlon – (196) Passion Punch Shimmer

Pure Ice – (775CP) Celestial

Small Cup

Luke warm water

Clear tape

Paper towel

It does take a little practice and it’s kinda messy. You’ll probably get a good technique down by the last nail, but that’s ok because even if it looks a little messy it’s still pretty cool! Good luck!

My Colorful Cupcake Nails

I’m addicted to cute, crazy, & random nail designs. I found this tutorial for Cupcake Nails from missglamorazzi on YouTube and HAD to give it a try! I think it’s super cute for Springtime, Easter, or a birthday party. I used different products than Ingrid (aka: missglamorazzi) you can see the list of products SHE used in the description under her video.

The nail polishes I used were:

OPI A Grape Fit!

OPI Shorts Story

AVON Sunshine

AVON Lagoon

Sally Hansen White On

Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen Red

Here’s a photo I took of my attempt at this design:

I put a link below if you’d like to watch the same video tutorial I watched! It was pretty helpful and is actually easier than I though it would be. Enjoy!

Recycle Nite

Recycle nite is a branch off of Party Nite. It was established a few months ago, out of the feeling of conviction I was having over the amount of plastic bottles I use. I know, I know…My name is Shanda, and I’m one of those “I can only drink bottled Aquafina water” people!  I KNOW!!! I ADMITTED IT!!! It’s a little pathetic, but everyone has their own thing. Anyway, I live in a very… how do I put it… small, unconscious of the environment, doesn’t care about anything but deer hunting and football… community. Needless to say, we don’t have any type of recycling pick-up or drop-off area within a decent drive.

We (the members of Party Nite) did our research and found a recycling drop-off site just in the county over. Now the last (or 4th) Friday nite of each month we pack up our plastic bottles, aluminum cans, newspapers, plastic bags and paper board products and head to the recycling center 😀 It’s not much, considering all of the people on this earth, but we have had an amazing number of converts.

What started with me, is now a good 12 people participating in our recycling endeavors!!!  Hopefully it will keep growing and we can make a small dent in this polluted world.

In the beginning…

… there was Party Nite. What is party nite you ask??? What it sounds like dummy (but a little bit lamer)!!!

It all started in 2008 w/ Upper Room (amazing preaching, rockin music, and lots of fun… AT CHURCH… gasp!). Then afterwards we would go to Perry’s (small, junky, DELICIOUS restaurant!). We would go there to eat w/ everyone from church, including our good friend Wendy. Well, long story short… Upper Room died a slow death and Perry’s got shut down by Subway! So, we needed a place to go hang out and eat! We ended up at the most convenient location… our house. We would meet every Thursday nite (which happens to be the same nite Upper Room was prior) and just eat supper, play Wii, watch movies, or play cards.

Since then, Party Nite has acquired many special variations, such as Recycle Nite, Fancy Nite, La Plaza Nite, Special Christmas Day Party etc. We’ve added a new person to the group and changed the nite to Friday nites. Party Nite is still going to this day, and it’s still good clean fun w/ awesome people 🙂
